On 2-3 of October, 2017 within the framework of Parish Social Ministry Project “Animation and Strengthening of Parish Social Ministries in Catholic Communities of Georgia” the meeting with local Catholic Parishes took place in the village of Vale and Arali (Samtskhe-Javakheti region).
During the meeting, Parish groups discussed the structure, problems and needs of the community, worked in groups and also talked about the future plans and volunteering issues.
The project was launched in May of 2016, with a duration of 2 years. The main goal of the project is improvement of social conditions in 8 Catholic Communities of Georgia of Latin, Armenian and Assyrian-Chaldean Rites taking inspiration by Catholic Social Teaching. To induce a behavior change in parish leaders in order to mobilize volunteers in their communities, to support self-determination and community development.
The project implements through the support of CRS/Catholic Relief Services from USA and Caritas Italiana.
