On 29-31 May, 2017, Eastern Europe-Caucasus Caritas Emergency Group organized their 7th Regional Workshop in Rostov, Russia.
EE-CCEG works since 2011 and is always seeking to improve capacity, knowledge and possibilities of its members to be able to help more people in case of emergencies. Representatives of Caritas South Russia, Caritas Ukraine, Armenian Caritas, Caritas Azerbaijan and Caritas Georgia are participating in the meeting.
This year EE-CCEG Meeting included training about Livelihoods. Livelihoods projects, introduced in Emergency Response activities, increase the ability of Caritas organizations to respond to the necessities of people affected by emergencies not only in the first period of urgent need, but in longer perspective. It helps to stabilize economic situation of suffered persons, bringing their lives to appropriate level in consideration of their skills and dignity. This training was held by representatives of Caritas Ukraine, who have got not only good theoretical, but also, practical knowledge of implementation of the Livelihood projects.
7th EE-CCEG meeting, also included an important field visit to the projects of Caritas South Russia, which work with refugees from Ukraine and children with disabilities.
Moreover, participants shared their experience, updated information, talked about current situation in Disaster Risk Reduction projects, presented elements of Response plan and discussed the progress on a roadmap (work-plan of EE-CCEG).
Two-and-a-half days’ workshop has not only increased the practical and theoretical knowledge of the participants, but also helped to plan future study visits to EE-CCEG member organizations and participation in different trainings held in Caritas organizations. The idea to make steps to cooperation with another Caritas Emergency Group was also supported by all members.
Next meeting of EE-CCEG is planned in autumn 2018.
EE-CCEG members are expressing special gratitude to Caritas Rostov for hosting this meeting and providing its participants with good conditions for fruitful work.
