June 6-9, 2017, Diocesan Caritas of Udine and Association Mission Onlus host delegation of Caritas Georgia

June 6-9, 2017, Diocesan Caritas of Udine and Association Mission Onlus hosted Director of Caritas Georgia – Mrs. Anahit Mkhoyan and Youth Program Manager – Mrs. Tamar Sharashidze in Udine.
During the stay in Udine, Caritas Georgia delegation had the precious opportunity to visit various services and projects of Diocesan Caritas of Udine and other partner organizations. The visit included the following projects and services: shelter for mothers and children, listening centers, Diocesan soup kitchen, social enterprises, shelters for homeless people, refugee center and other facilities providing services to people in a difficult situation and with serious social marginality.
On 8th of June, the conference was held in Udine on the topic of parents, services and communities in the network for the protection of children and teenagers. The conference proposed as a first step a reflection on the broad theme of working with vulnerable children and their families. At the meeting there were representatives of governmental organizations and various Italian Associations and NGOs and the representatives of Caritas Georgia. The initiative was ideally closing the project “Rehabilitation of socially vulnerable minors through a Transition Center for Minor working on the road in Rustavi, Georgia” supported also by the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Association Mission Onlus (Udine) and Diocesan Caritas of Udine as an international cooperation, with Caritas as a partner in Georgia. Caritas Georgia’s presentation was called “Give a helping hand to a child” and spoke of significant experiences, among which there was also the testimony of a former beneficiary of small family type housing of Caritas Georgia – Beka Eradze. Beka briefly told his story of success and about his future plans.
During the second half of the conference, representatives of governmental organizations, various associations and NGOs presented reports on the continuity of the path in favor of children and about the work with / in the territorial community and the integration of services in Italy.
During its visit in Italy, Caritas Georgia delegation together with Italian colleagues had the opportunity to share their experiences and this fact contributes to providing better assistance to vulnerable people in Georgia and Italy.
