Art Therapy Studio for Vulnerable Children and Youth
Goal: to ensure the psycho-social rehabilitation of children from families living below the poverty line and to increase their chances of employment.
With the purpose of providing the children with post-traumatic syndromes with psychological rehabilitation, a method of art therapy is used in the Art Therapy Studio workshops of ceramic, cloisonné enameling, iconography, decorative metal stamping and wood engraving, felt and weaving. The acquired vocational skills they can use in future and earn money for living. The 16-18-year-old children get the job application skills of writing a resume and information about the ways of seeking the available vacancies. Each year, Art Therapy Studio serves up to 70 children and youth.
Every year the handcraft items prepared by the youth are presented in different exhibitions and events.
The beneficiaries of the Art Therapy Studio are children from socially unprotected families; children from families displaced aftermath the armed conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia; children from families with many children; children from families without a breadwinner; children without parental care; and children with disabilities. The age of children ranges from 6 up to the age of 18.
